Blowin' up the Maki! - Anthologies and E-Manga
Here at the MangaCast, one of Ed and I's goals is to always somehow get people involved with this little community. After Jack and I's little fisticuffs debate on this past week’s Maki, as well as seeing Ed’s voice mail in action, I had an idea. Why not start a little segment for the Maki where you all can voice your own opinions about some current topic or news item!
So how this will work is that we’ll post a topic and then you all can use Skype to leave us a voice mail. Just leave us your first name and location and you’ll become a part of the Maki. The MangaCast reserves the right to use your voice in a bad AMV featuring Berserk and Celine Dion.
So, what is the current topic? Anthologies and E-Manga! If you need a little reference material, check out these links:
Read This Way: Multiplying Manga (Buzzscope) - Check out the Tania Del Rio article that started this recent round of anthology debate.
Queenie Chan LJ - The Dreaming creator puts together an awesome piece about anthologies and her views on the viability digitally distributed manga, complete with a diagram that Apple should buy off of her.
Digital Manga: A Progressive Change for More Content? - At the risk of tooting my own horn, this is a blog piece I wrote for AnimeOnDVD when the Sony Reader was announced.
Side Dish #2: How would you like your Manga - Paper or Pixel? - This is a podcast Ed did for the MangaCast a few months ago.
RUSH Chat (LoveManga) - An editor with DQ Editor-in-Chief about their upcoming yaoi anthology featuring OEL talent.
Okay, so you’re all ready now to let loose on us pompadour-stylin’ yanks, right? Perfect! Go ahead and and make sure to let us know that you are “Blowin’ up the Maki!” and talking about Anthologies and E-Manga!
[UPDATE] - I added a link to LoveManga's interview with DQ about Rush. Anthology in practice and not just theory! :D
